The following email was sent to all registered participants for the 2022 Houston Texan Kids Triathlon presented by Texas Children’s Hospital on April 15, 2022 at 7:00am.

Unless you opted to have your race packet shipped or purchased the option to pickup your packet on race morning, you MUST pick up your child’s packet at one of the scheduled times listed on the PACKET PICKUP page. A separate email will be going out to those who purchased the option to pick up their packets on race morning.

CUSTOM QR CODE

This custom QR code is for <participant first name> <participant last name>. See below for packet pickup details and rules. You may also access your custom QR code by going to your RunSignup profile and resending the event confirmation email. About an hour before each packet pickup, I will also send an email with nothing but the QR code so you can easily reference that email when you come to pick up your child’s packet.

PACKET PICKUP LOCATION

Packet pickup will be held at Typhoon Texas in the parking lot next to transition.

Please do not call the waterpark for packet pickup information. Typhoon Texas staff will have limited information available. If you have questions about packet pickup please see the EVENT WEBSITE or contact me using the button at the bottom of this email.

  • Friday, April 22, 2022 (ALL PARTICIPANTS)
    • 2:00pm – Packet Pickup #1 begins
    • 7:00pm – Packet Pickup #1 ends
  • Saturday, April 23, 2022 (SUNDAY PARTICIPANTS ONLY)
    • 2:00pm – Packet Pickup #1 begins
    • 7:00pm – Packet Pickup #2 ends

PACKET PICKUP PROCEDURE

To expedite the packet pickup process please make sure you have an email with your child’s custom QR code handy so we can scan your child in. The QR code was included on your confirmation email, it can be found at the top of this email. and I will be sending a reminder each day of packet pickup. A printed copy is not necessary, you can have the QR code open on your phone. If you have it on your phone please make sure the screen brightness is set to max for easy scanning.

USA TRIATHLON PACKET PICKUP RULES

Per USAT rules, only LEGAL GUARDIANS of a minor 17 year old or younger may pick up a packet for registered participants. You must show legal photo identification. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE as we can lose our event insurance and sanctioning with USA Triathlon if we do not follow this rule.

Your child is NOT REQUIRED to be present and you do not need your child’s USAT Membership card or number. USAT membership validation is completed when you registered for the event. However, packet pickup does coincide with EARLY BIKE CHECK-IN and the race site will be completely set up so this will be a great time to do a walk-through with your triathlete.

PACKET PICKUP ITEMS

Your child’s race packet will include:

  • 1 labelled envelope with the following items:
    • 1 race bib
    • 1 helmet sticker
    • 2 bike stickers
    • 1 set of temporary race tattoos
    • 1 wristband with your child’s race number. This is to be worn by the PARENT or GUARDIAN that will be entering transition with your child in the morning and claiming them from transition at the end of the race
  • 1 event swim cap
  • 1 event shirt
  • 1 Typhoon Texas tickets for participant’s admission to the waterpark after the race. If you pre-purchased additional waterpark tickets, these will also be included in your child’s packet. If you need more tickets or did not pre-purchase tickets, you can purchase them after the event at the Typhoon Texas ticket window.

Your timing chip and neoprene strap will be at your transition space during EARLY BIKE CHECK-IN and on race morning and NOT in your race packet.

Before leaving packet pickup, please double check to make sure you have everything and that the numbers match your child’s assigned race number. The items that should have matching numbers include the race bib, stickers, race tattoos, and parent’s wristband. If you get home and realize you are missing something please contact me using the button at the bottom of this email.

You CANNOT change your shirt size at packet pickup. Because race items are ordered in advance, the order is based off your selection during the registration process. Changes made at packet pickup may results in someone else not receiving what they ordered. Please be respectful of this. If you’d like to exchange an items you may check after the event at the volunteer check-in area near transition.
