The Cheryl Stitt Memorial Scholarship was founded to reward service of greater Houston area high school students to the endurance sports community. Two awards will be given annually to one male and one female who have demonstrated exemplary service to the Houston area endurance sports community. Service can be demonstrated through a variety of ways including, but not limited to:
- Volunteering or working at Houston area endurance sports events
- Participating and recruiting others to participate in Houston area endurance sports events
- Providing mentorship, guidance, or coaching to new athletes in the Houston area
- Being an ambassador for supporting local Houston area races

Scholarship Qualifications
All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed below to be considered for the Cheryl Stitt Memorial Scholarship:
- Must be a high school student during the award year (9th through 12th grade)
- Must have permanent residence in the great Houston area, one of the following counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, or Waller.
- Must be able to demonstrate service to the Houston area endurance community.
- Must complete the online application within the designated application submission period.
Scholarship & Funds Availability
The scholarship will be awarded annually with the awards being announced on [announcement date] each calendar year to one high school male and one high school female selected by a group of Houston area endurance sports directors and Cheryl’s family members. The scholarship will initially by funded each year by Negative Split Production in the amount of $1,000 for each award.
Additional donations will be solicited through various events and any donations received by [donation deadline] of the award year will be divided equally amongst the awards. Any donations received after [donation deadline] of the award year will be rolled over into the following calendar year’s total award. The award amount listing at the top of the page will be updated regularly.
Once announced, recipients will be asked to attend the annual Typhoon Texas Kids Triathlon awards ceremony for recognition as a Cheryl Stiff Memorial Scholarship recipient. Scholarship funds will be distributed to recipients no later than [distribution date] of the award year.
