Negative Split Productions was founded in 2014 with a mission to produce premier endurance events in the greater Houston area and beyond. What began as a side passion quickly evolved into a full-time pursuit for founder and owner Tony Sapp — a lifelong athlete, systems engineer, and detail-obsessed race director.
Today, Negative Split is known for producing smooth, scalable, and well-supported events — offering services that span race timing, LED screen rentals, registration setup, equipment, and race-day consulting.
How It Started
From Athlete to Organizer
In 2009, Tony began competing in local triathlons and running events. By 2012, he had stepped behind the scenes, responding to a volunteer coordinator callout from Onurmark Productions. After gaining hands-on experience working large-scale endurance events, Tony was named Volunteer Coordinator for the 2013 Kemah Triathlon — and from that moment, he was all-in.
While still working full-time as a Systems Engineer at NASA on the International Space Station Program, Tony spent weekends working races, learning every aspect of event production from the ground up.
In early 2014, an idea for a NASA-adjacent race led to a conversation with the owner of Onurmark — and the concept for the Run Houston! Race Series was born. Within a month, Negative Split Productions was officially formed, and just two months later, Tony left NASA to pursue race production full-time.

Where We’re Headed
Evolving the business & industry
As the endurance event industry continues to grow and change, so has our role within it. In 2018, we expanded our mission — offering not just race production, but also the technical support and race-day expertise that organizers need to deliver smooth, professional events.
Today, Negative Split Productions serves as a go-to partner for both new and experienced event directors. We provide the behind-the-scenes experience, equipment, and technology that help events run efficiently and leave a lasting impression on participants and guests.
We’ve grown from managing our own race brands to supporting a wide range of events with services such as:
-
LED screen and scoreboard rentals for live scoring, entertainment, and sponsor promotion
-
Registration setup and coaching, including RunSignup support
-
Race-day consulting, course planning, and logistics strategy
-
Equipment rental for finish line setup, clocks, and signage
Whether we’re working with a community 5K, a corporate gathering, a triathlon, or a large-scale public event, our goal remains the same: to provide organizers with the confidence, tools, and support they need to deliver seamless, professional experiences for their attendees.
We’re not just here to time your event — we’re here to help you PR your next one.
