Houston's New Year's Day run.
Since 2023, the Houston Resolution Run has been the city's first finish line of the year. Every January 1, runners and walkers gather at Fish Plaza in the heart of downtown to start the year in motion, before the confetti is even swept up. It has grown into a real Houston tradition, a fresh-start ritual for people who set goals and mean it.
For a sponsor, that timing is the whole opportunity. This is the single morning of the year when your audience is most open to a new gym, a new supplement, a new bank, a new pair of shoes. Resolution Run puts your brand in front of them at the exact moment they are deciding who to become this year. It is a smaller, tighter field than a big city marathon, and that is the point: a concentrated, loyal, local crowd you can actually reach.
- When
- Friday, January 1, 2027, 9:00 AM start. A yearly tradition since 2023.
- Where
- Fish Plaza, 501 Texas Ave, in the heart of downtown Houston.
- Distances
- Nearly Half Marathon (20K), 10K, 5K, and a Family 1-Mile Run and Walk, plus a virtual option.
- 2027 projection
- ~1,100 participants, and an estimated ~2,750 on site once you count family and spectators. Growth driven by a new social media program that lifted our other events in 2026.
A loyal, hyper-local Houston audience.
Resolution Run draws a female-leaning, 30s to 40s runner base at the peak goal-setting moment of the year. These are highly motivated, disciplined people with discretionary income to spend on their health and their goals, and they are making those buying decisions right now. They train, they invest in gear, they join gyms, and they show up on January 1 to prove it. It is the most concentrated and most local audience of the three Negative Split Productions owned events: not a travel race, a come back every year one.

Mobile LED screen
A Negative Split Productions owned mobile LED video screen runs live results, roaming camera feeds, and a rotating sponsor window all morning. Almost no competitor offers this.

Named and element roles.
Rather own one specific thing? Each role below is sold as its own package, on top of or alongside a level. Every role includes a standard presence: your logo on the event website and participant emails, a sponsor deal to registrants, social post tagging, and an announcer mention. The table shows what each role adds on top of that.
Prefer a custom package?
The levels and roles above are our standard packages, but they are not the only way in. Every asset below can be combined into a custom package built around your goals and your budget. Tell us what you want to accomplish and we will put together a mix that fits.

Proof of performance.
Every paying sponsor gets a branded post-event recap report, so you can show your team what the partnership delivered.
We provide impressions and views. Sponsors bring their own tracking links to calculate ROI.Houston Resolution Run questions.
Who is in the crowd on January 1?
A New Year audience, which is a different crowd from a typical race. People sign up because they are setting an intention for the year, which makes it a natural fit for brands in fitness, health, financial services, and anything built around starting something. It is also one of the first marketing moments of the calendar year, before most brands have spent anything.
When do we need to be committed by?
Sooner than you would think. Registration opens at the end of September, and the sponsors who get the most out of the event are the ones in place before it opens, because that is when the participant emails, the registration page, and the promotion cycle all start running.
What does a sponsorship actually get us on event day?
It depends on the level, but every package includes a reserved 10'x10' booth space and the right to run activities from it: sampling, a raffle, lead capture, whatever fits your brand. From there it scales. Higher levels add your logo to the things participants keep (the finish medal, the event shirt, their race photos) and the things everyone walks past (the start and finish arch, course signage, the LED screen).
Can we be the only brand in our category?
Yes. Category exclusivity means no competing brand in your category is sold into that event, and it is included automatically with a Presenting sponsorship. At Premier and Supporting it is available as an add-on. It is worth asking early: once a category is committed to another brand for an edition, it is gone for that year.
Do we have to take one of the standard packages?
No. The tiers and named roles are the standard ways in because they are the ones most brands want, but every asset we offer can be combined into a custom package. Tell us the budget and what you are trying to accomplish and we will put a mix together. Plenty of partnerships end up as a tier plus one or two additions from somewhere else on the menu.
We are a small local business. Is there a level that fits?
Yes. Vendor and Booth partnerships are $500 and get you in front of the crowd with a reserved booth and announcer mentions. It is the same event, the same audience, at a size that makes sense for a local shop or a single-location business.
Can we sponsor more than one event?
Yes, and it is the better deal if the audiences all work for you. The NSP Annual Partner package is one agreement covering Houston Resolution Run, Houston Kids Triathlon, and Houston Fourth Fest, at a discount to what those three cost bought separately. It is one negotiation, one invoice, and one set of artwork deadlines instead of three.
How far ahead do we need to commit?
Earlier is better, and the reason is production deadlines rather than sales pressure. Anything printed (shirts, medals, race numbers, course signage, the arch banner) has a hard art deadline weeks before the event, and once it passes those assets are off the table for that edition. The on-site and digital pieces stay available much later. If you are close to a deadline, ask, and we will tell you honestly what can still be included for that edition.
Is it cash only, or will you take in-kind?
Cash is the preference, and most partnerships are cash. The door is open to in-kind when the product or service is something the event actually needs, and a few roles are well suited to it. If you think you have something that fits, raise it early. We look at those case by case and will tell you straight whether it works rather than trying to make it fit.
What do we get after the event?
A recap report covering how the event performed and where your brand showed up: participation numbers, the digital and email reach your logo was part of, and photography of your branding and activation on site. It is the thing you forward internally when someone asks whether the sponsorship was worth renewing.
